On 1 March, Vendu Dickhaut Maastricht appraisers and many visitors were present in Sittard at the special organised by Filmhuis ZICHT around the short film De Wolkenfietsers - erffenis van een droom. In this Golden Calf-winning documentary, we see how the sons of the suddenly deceased artist Rudi van de Wint (1942-2006) passionately take responsibility for securing their father's legacy.
How do you deal with something you inherit and the emotional value that the piece has. How do you take care of it?
And what do you do if you don't want or can't keep the piece yourself. Then how do you make sure it ends up in a good place. That is why the public and other interested parties could have their art or heirlooms, which are easy to take with them, valued this afternoon. They could also learn more about the history of their belongings from Museum Het Nieuwe Domein or the Sittard Archaeology Working Group.
Carefully, our specialists assessed the brought pieces such as works of art, jewellery or antiques for authenticity, among other things, gave an estimate of the value and how auctioning works.
About the artist
The works of this versatile artist are known to the Dutch public in particular for the red and purple panels he made for the Lower House and of large eye-catching sculptures in the Dutch landscape. Van de Wint also transformed the neglected dune area the Nollen near Den Helder - where he used to play among the bunkers as a child - into an art park and resurrected beautiful sculptures in the dunes.
