Vacancy General appraiser (part-time)

Vendu Rotterdam and Vendu Dickhaut Maastricht are looking for an experienced General Appraiser For appraisals at Vendu and at special locations around the country.

Due to the expansion of our valuation and collection activities, we are looking for an experienced general appraiser with a broad interest in art, design and antiques. Do you have the independence and experience to help clients on location and contribute to the growth of our organisation? Then this is your chance.

Why choose Vendu?

Vendu Rotterdam is the oldest auction house in the Netherlands with a fresh outlook on the future. We combine craftsmanship with innovation and are constantly expanding our services. Thus, we not only provide auctions from Rotterdam, but we also operate in other places in the country - for example in the galleries of sister company Iris Galerie. Soon we will also expand this to other cities. We are looking for a colleague who shares this ambition and enjoys working on location.

Your role as general appraiser:

You will have a versatile job with a lot of freedom and responsibility. One moment you will be appraising at a client's home, the next you will be working at a representative location in the country. You will appraise art, design, jewellery, collectibles and household effects, prepare clear reports and assist clients in a personal manner during the auction process. You are also a substantive sparring partner within our team.

What will you do:

Valuing goods at clients' premises, at Vendu Rotterdam, Vendu Dickhaut Maastricht and at external locations such as various galleries;

  • Drafting valuation reports, catalogue texts and condition reports (Dutch and English);
  • Professionally assist customers in taking goods for auction;
  • Actively thinking about new appraisal concepts and intake points;
  • Act as a question and sparring partner for colleagues and management;
  • Helping out at auctions, viewing days and valuation days, including occasionally outside office hours;
  • Contribute to strengthening our network of contributors and relationships.

What we expect from you:

  • Demonstrated experience as an appraiser, preferably within the auction industry;
  • Independence: you can work independently on site, without direct supervision;
  • Representative, customer-oriented and communicatively strong;
  • TMV certification is a plus;
  • Good command of the Dutch and English languages;
  • Flexible availability (several days a week, to be scheduled by appointment);
  • Preferably living in Brabant;
  • In possession of a driving licence.

What we offer you:

A part-time position (hours to be agreed upon) within a close-knit, expert team. You will work alternately at our locations in Rotterdam and Maastricht and at unique locations throughout the country. We offer plenty of room for personal input and entrepreneurship. You will work with passionate colleagues in an atmosphere of trust, commitment and professionalism.
